Supports member First Nations by enhancing the quality of life and well being of their people and families through community development, professional consultation and direct health services.

Joyce White: Eearly Childhood Development Coordinator. Kw'umut Lelum strives to help children and families to: 'uwu kws tu'sus (live in safety); remain in the care of the natural family, within their own Nation; participate in cultural activities that are in the best interests of the child; and operate programs that promote kw'am' kw'um' (strong) families and healthy and self-reliant youth. Services for nine Nations including Chemainus, Lyackson, Penelakut, Halalt, Lake Cowichan and Malahat, Snuneymuxw, Nanoose, Qualicum. Programs and services include: safety and well-being of children and families; family support; parent education; counseling; foster care; community development programs; young adult club; youth life skills.

Support to community members during difficult times. Counsellors are available to deal with immediate crises or provide regular, ongoing support.
Individual counselling for adults, children and families. Play and art therapy for children. Native sobriety support groups. Residential School support group. Healing in Relationships for women who are in or have experienced abusive relationships. Family violence intervention for men who have abused an intimate partner and/or family members. Parenting teens support group. Community outreach.

Lake Cowichan First Nation

Lalum'utul' Smun'eem (caring for our children/families and extended families)Child and Family Services provides programs and services for children at risk. Its services are provided to all on-Reserve Cowichan Tribes members. Child Safety Team. Prevention. Foster Home Program.
